Welcome Back to the PMDD Blog: Third Times a Charm

Season 3, Episode 01 Third Times a Charm

“Sometimes, you get things right the first time.  Others, the second. But the third time, they say, is the charm.” ~ Sarah Dessen

I completely fell off the face of the earth, AGAIN.  Sound familiar?  It should, I said the same thing last February when I tried to “reboot” my blog.  One of the bad habits about PMDD, is crawling so deep into a hole that finding your way back is so overwhelming it is easier to stay in the warm, dark, cocoon you crafted yourself. The thing that keeps me coming back is HOPE.  This Blog means the world to me and I want it to succeed.  I want to bring hope to those with PMDD that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is worth everything you are going through when it is finally done.  I want to be the voice of calm, reason, and most of all hope.  It does get better.

I am fully aware that I have yet to prove myself, since my actions have not necessarily backed up my words.  I have not been consistent and that is the KEY TO BRINGING this Blog to the masses.

Where Am I in the Recovery Process

Last we left off, I explained that:

  •  I had my surgery.

  •  I moved to K-Town (aka: Kaiserslautern Germany)

  •  I got my child into regular school.

  •  I started interning, through the Red Cross, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC)

  • I have started the Onboarding process at LRMC for a job, using my new college degree, in the HIMS Department.

  • I have started Therapy (you could not believe how hard it was to start this!  Hollywood has it all wrong. It took MONTHS to get this).

  • I have started Anger Management.

  • I have started mending those relationships I ran away from.

In this sense, I did keep my word and through action, worked all of 2024 to accomplish all of this.  Now is the time to start creating those healthy habits since I have learned the basics on how to process overwhelming emotions.  I am sad to say that I am still smoking, but I have gone from 1 pack a day to 6 cigarettes a day.  I unfortunately had to stop the Optavia program due to being allergic to all the ingredients.  I currently now am on the “Eating for my Blood Type”  leaving out all Dairy, Gluten, Soy, Whey, Nut, Egg and Cod Fish.  Supper general and specific but turns out I am allergic to a specific protein found in all of those things that inflame my body and cause me migraines and congestion issues.

2025 Vision Board

I have created a 2025 Vision board with my target SMART Goals for the Year.  SMART stands for Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant TIME BOUND actions.  At the top of the list is this blog.  Keeping up with it.  Creating weekly content, a monthly escape, real time journal event to show that I too know what you are going through, and some fun writings such as Movie/TV/Book reviews.  My Goal is to have a consistent blog post every Tuesday about the daily struggles of PMDD, a fun/journal post on Thursday and an escape of the month.  I will get on this.  I will accomplish this goal and I will expand this topic.  My future goals for this blog is to be affiliated with the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) and feature some guest writers about PMDD or Mental Health.

“Starting a New Chapter is recognizing that the old one has nothing new to teach you.  It’s time to find closure and start one that supports who you’re becoming, one that doesn’t just repeat the story of who you were, or repeat the script of who you were with.  When that internal dialogue that you’ve been listening to changes, surprising things start occurring in your life.  The old story needed your attention and participation to survive, but once you step back it loses its power.  If the old story starts up again, leave it, don’t fight it or fear it, just write a new ending.” ~ Anonymous.

Tune in next Tuesday for Episode 2 (as my accountability partner in establishing new habits).
